A slideshow would force visitors to view all images in a selected gallery whether they wanted to or not. Thumbnails consume less bandwidth, are quick to load and offer the viewer the opportunity to enlarge the images of their choice without having to wait for others to download, thus saving bandwidth, reducing server load and ensuring a superior browsing experience for all.

adidasboy answers: If this site were run for profit and visitors were charged to view content to pay for the time required to do this, then yes. But that isn't the case and I have to make a living...
